2023 Honor Awards Nomination INformation

Honor Awards Eligibility

Eligible honorees include:

·        Nominations must be made by a current AIA, Assoc. AIA, or Affiliate Member

·        Nominees in categories for Lifetime Achievement and the Mary Caroline Cole Award must be current AIA or Assoc. AIA members.

·        Previous winners cannot be nominated in the category they have previously won in, except for Firm of the Year.

·        There is no limit to the number of nominations an individual or firm can make.

·        Nominations can be made anonymously or with the participation of the nominee.

·        Firm of the Year award may not be awarded to the same firm in consecutive years.

 

 Honor Awards Categories

Adah Robinson Award – Communty Member or Organization

This award is presented to individuals, businesses, or organizations within and outside the profession who, through dedication of time, talent and resources have contributed to the betterment of the architectural profession, the community and the built environment.

 Outstanding Member Award

This award recognizes an individual AIA Eastern Oklahoma Architect member for their service to the Eastern Oklahoma architectural community, including service to the profession or public service.

 Mary Caroline Cole Award

This award recognizes an individual AIA Eastern Oklahoma woman member architect who has exhibited a dedication to advancing the role of women in architecture through their work professionally, in the community and/or the region. This award is presented by Women in Design.

 Firm of the Year Award

To recognize an architectural or architectural/engineering firm, or individual practitioner which, has distinguished itself over the past five years, to the betterment of the profession and community, through leadership, vision and design. 

 

Honor Awards Entry Fees & Deadlines

There is no fee to nominate someone for an Honor Award.  One form should be completed for each nomination and all supporting information should be combined into a PDF or PowerPoint and uploaded to the AIA Eastern Oklahoma Website.  All forms and supporting documentation should be uploaded no later than October 1. The nominator may choose to keep the nomination confidential from the nominee or may choose to work with the nominee in submitting the nomination.

 

Honor Awards Judging

The Board of Directors will appoint a committee to evaluate all nominations received by October 1 and give awards only in those categories for which qualified nominees are submitted.  Once award winners are decided, the chapter will reach out to organize production of a video recognizing the winners to be shown at the awards ceremony in November.

 

Awards Presentation

The AIA Eastern Oklahoma Awards Dinner will take place on Friday, November 12 at the Cox Business Convention Center.  Cost to attend the awards celebration is separate from the registration fee for entering the Design Awards competition.  Each Honor Award recipient will receive one complimentary ticket to the awards celebration.  Additional tickets may be purchased.

 

Honor Awards Submission Instructions 

·        A completed nomination form that can be completed on the AIA Eastern Oklahoma website

·        The entire submission packet must be submitted electronically in a single PowerPoint or PDF file.

·        A maximum of three letters of Nomination/Recommendation not to exceed three slides legible in a printed format. (Not needed for Firm of the Year Award)

·        Letters should be explicit in their recommendation, summarize the candidate’s contributions and contain specific reasons for support. (Not needed for Firm of the Year Award)

·        Firm of the Year nominations should include a statement about their commitment to AIA and the profession at large.

·        Additional supporting items shall include:

o   A brief narrative about the individual or organization not to exceed two slides.

o   A statement/list of candidate’s achievements/awards not to exceed two slides.

o   Miscellaneous materials including photos, clippings, articles, etc., not to exceed three slides.

·        Include at least one (1) digital image of the candidate in a high resolution 300 dpi jpeg file.

 

Awards Submissions Photography, Copyright and Media Releases

Entrants are responsible for any royalty, copyright, and/or photography fees.  It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that the submissions are cleared for release by the photographer, firm, owner or any other entity with copyright over them.  Submission of images to the AIA Eastern Oklahoma Design Awards Program is considered a complete and unbinding release of all images for publication.  Submissions will become the property of AIA Eastern Oklahoma, unless otherwise requested, and used at the discretion of AIA Eastern Oklahoma.  Electronic images of award-winning entries will be available for unrestricted media distribution and publicity by AIA Eastern Oklahoma.
